What does it mean to engage? Who is in a position to engage? Is it a contract? An obligation? A connection?

After a brainstorming session of such questions, we explored the idea of ‘Engagement’ with the body.

Italian artist, Chiara Colombi created a Manual for Universal Engagement during her Residency at the museum. The sixth part in a series, the manual offer readers a series of actions to be taken on a daily basis. The interest is to have a system to gather different propositions that activate a physical action (performing arts) as a medium through which to expand our way of living space, in different situations, thanks to the act of presence in daily life. The manual was prepared after research in the museum’s vicinity and activated on the streets of Mirzapur through participations with different audiences.

Around An Engagement was a talk by Chiara Colombi. It was an informal discussion and part of the Universal Engagement: Activation Of Manual. The event included documentation of the activation on Mirzapur streets and a critical discussion around it.
