Talk On Conflict In Palestine

15 AUGUST 2014 | TALK BY IRFAN ENGINEER

All India Secular Forum (AISF) in association with Conflictorium, INSAF, Janvikas, Parwaaj & National Peace Group (NPG) conducted a ‘Talk on Conflict in Palestine’ facilitated by Irfan engineer who is the director at Centre for Study of Society and Secularism. A historical perspective on the conflict was drawn to help better understand the political nature of the issue.

Irfan Engineer spoke about how the Palestinian land had transformed demographically from being a completely Arab state to a Jewish state. The present-day scenario and the degree to which the Palestinians are confronting the tyrannical Israeli occupation was witnessed by Irfan on his recent visit to the country. He defined the circumstances of the Arabs as very deteriorating and chaotic with the constant threat of life lingering above their heads on a daily basis. Irfan Engineer extracted the ideological position of the United States of America and examined the prevalent neoliberal politics that is exercised in order to weaken Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation.  The involvement of the audience in the talk revealed how local restaurants in Ahmedabad have displayed a list of products to boycott, which are manufactured in Israel.
