Poetry with Swastika Jajoo

17 MARCH 2019 | POETRY RECITAL

Swastika’s performance was centered on gender, mental health, chai and her interactions with her grandparents. In her poem ‘Short Hair’, she says “I’m comfortable in my own skin, sir / I don’t need you to stitch me another.” She shared with us glimpses of this journey of self-care that has enabled her to feel at home in her body, and how it hasn’t been the easiest but is definitely the most essential process. At the end of the event, she hoped to leave us with a little more of us, and that she did very gently.
