Pathbreakers: The Twentieth Century Muslim Women of India’, showcased the groundbreaking achievements of 21 Muslim Women in building a post-independence India. The opening was followed by a talk by Dr Syeda Hameed. She is an Indian women’s rights activist, poet, translator, writer and a former member of the Planning Commission of India.

Artist Talk: Sarah Naqvi

Sarah, a graduate of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad works with hand stitching, embroidery and textiles and uses it to address body shaming and other social taboos. Her talk revolved around Muslim identity, contemporary politics and its impressions on her work. Sarah has also shown her work at the Conflictorium as part of the Microsubversions Playbook.

Talk With Sumaiya Haseeb

Sumaiya has been rescuing snakes and crocodiles in Ahmedabad and Baroda for 20 years now. Her passion for nature and wildlife dates back to her childhood days. Her work has been appreciated by the Wildlife Crime Cell and she has been recognized as an official of the WCC for the same. The conversations revolved around what sparked her interest in exploring wildlife and what led her to dedicate her time to rescuing animals.
