‘Me Vaddar’ and ‘Bade Bhaisaab’

22 JUNE 2014 | PERFORMANCE | IN COLLABORATION WITH BUDHAN THEATRE

Budhan Theatre performed two separate plays: ‘Me Vaddar’ and ‘Bade Bhaisaab’

Me, Vaddar

The Play depicts the real-life story of a Vaddar (DNT tribe) family whose child died during the night when he was sleeping on the footpath in extremely cold weather because the BMC (Bombay Municipal Corporation) had demolished the slum where they were staying. The play shows us how society unleashes violence on these marginalized communities.

Bade Bhaisaab

This play is based on a short story written by Munshi Premchand, this story is based on the life of two brothers. It talks about the memories of childhood, school, relationship with siblings and the life of a student.  This short story criticises the colonial education system and its impacts through the relationship between the narrator and his older brother.
