About the play

People from the Muslim community were forced to leave their homes after the 2002 riots in Gujarat and were identified as the internally displaced. The play Muhajir raises questions of displacement and the struggles of life thereafter. It asks poignant questions to the government, civil society as well as the community itself of the predicament, existence of those displaced. The play highlights the story of displaced family and also shows the history and contemporary situation of persecution, discrimination and violence facing by the Muslims. The issues of Mob lynching has also raised in the end of the play.

गुजरात के मुहाजिर नाटक :

2002 गुजरात के जनसंहार के कारण मुसलमानों को मजबूरन अपनी मूल जगह छोड़नी पड़ी और उन्हें आंतरिक विस्थापित कहा गया।  यह नाटक विस्थापितों के सवालों को और विस्थापन के बाद विस्थापितों के जीवन की जद्दोजहेद  को दर्शाता हैं।  यह नाटक सरकार, नागरिक समाज और अपने ही समुदाय के भीतर खड़े हो रहे विस्थापितों के लिए उदासीन, नकारात्मक नजरिए को दर्शाता है और विस्थापित मुसलमान  के अस्तित्व के सवाल को उठाता है।  विस्थापित परिवार की कहानी को दर्शाते हुए नाटक मुसलामनों  पर हो रहे अत्याचार, भेदभाव, हिंसा के इतिहास एवं वर्तमान को दिखता हैं और  ‘मोब लिंचिंग – भीड़ हिंसा’ पर भी सवाल उठा है।
