Keli is a film about a child. Ponnu is fascinated by Pottan Theyyam, an ancient rebel who stood for equality. She dreams to be like him, dance like him. But she is realizing how difficult it is for `her’ to be like `him’.

FILM: INDIA UNTOUCHED

India Untouched is a documentary that will make it impossible for anyone in India to deny that Untouchability is still practised today. Director Stalin K. spent four years travelling the length and breadth of the country to bear witness to the continued exclusion of Dalits, who bear the weight of a 4000-year-old religious system. The film’s canvas stretches from Manu to matrimonial columns. In an age where the media projects only one image of a Rising India and urges the public to dismantle the reservation system, this film reminds us how far we are from being an equal society.

18 Feet is a film about a folk music band the stories of the musicians who were part of the band. P R Remesh, a city bus conductor, heads a popular folk music band in Kerala’s Thrissur district. This group is redefining the identity of a community that has been subjected to senseless oppression for centuries. The musicians share powerful personal stories and memories as the band plays on, spreading a message of equality, love and harmony for all. In the days when untouchability was openly practised, 18 feet was the distance Dalits were expected to keep between themselves and the upper castes.
